Project Overview

This is a training done for a local farm co-op. It is a sample of an informative e-learning activity about raising chickens. It was created using Articulate Storyline. All design and branding were created by me.

Here is the design process:

Problem: Multiple customers come in to the farm cooperative seeking information on how to start raising chickens. The staff there can answer questions, but would like to have some resources to direct customers to when they are busy. Paper materials could be used, but they would like to be environment-conscious by making an online tool. It would also save money on paper products and material goods.

Learner profile: A variety of people come in asking how to raise chickens. These are primarily people who have at least one other animal or pet so they have some knowledge of how to care for an animal. Their main focus is on what supplies they need, how to feed them, house them, etc. Most all of them will be able to afford the necessary supplies to raise chickens. They will likely have a car to transport all the materials. They will most likely be interested in other aspects of homesteading such as gardening.

Solution: Creating this training will help free up staff from having keep answering questions, and give a more formal explanation on how to raise chickens. It will also create a sense of community by offering a free resource that can be accessible any time of day.

Constraints: Accessibility- Do all customers have access to the internet and a way to see the training? Will technology be a deterrent? How much will the final project cost and will it be more feasible than giving out paper materials.
